The moving of the scheduled games are as follows:

Games from Nov.17 are moved to Nov.24

Games from Nov.24 are moved to Dec.15

Games for Dec.8 are cancelled and are moved to a tentative schedule, January 12

Games we listed under Dec. 15 are moved to a tentative schedule, January 19.

OVERALL Ground Rules (CAS Sports Tournament)

OVERALL GROUND RULES:

o Any registered faculty, staff and students of any department under the UP College of Arts and Sciences is eligible to compete under the name of his/her department.
o Every player is allowed to play for a maximum of FIVE (5) individual events and 2 relays
o Only TWO (2) swimmers (representatives) from every department are allowed to play per event.
o The team should be 60% faculty and staff and 40% students.
o Swimmers are required to wear proper swimming attire (swimsuit/trunks)
o Points-
5points- 1st place
3points- 2nd place
2points- 3rd place
1points- 4th place

5. TABLE TENNIS

Guidelines for the Game:
1. Team- Each team comprises of four members; two of them will compete for the mixed doubles and the other two for the singles category. A player is not allowed to play in two (2) categories (mixed doubles and singles).
2. The Match. The match shall consist of the best of 3 in every set. The team who will win the two (2) games in a set is considered the winner of the match.
3. Point System. A team earns a point when it won two (2) out of three (3) categories of the game ex. (Game 1) If Team A won the singles (W) and the mixed doubles category, they will be declared as the winning team in Game 1.

4. BOWLING

1. Competition in Bowling is performed for any appointed faculty, staff, and students from any departments under the College of Arts and Sciences.
2. Each team must comprise of eight members. It can be a combination of CAS faculty, staffs and students in which majority of the players must be CAS faculty.
3. A team is expected to present a legal line up of five players on the lanes at the starting time of for each round. No team will be allowed to participate in the game with less than the recommended number of players. Teams not making up games within that time scheduled will forfeit the games and the opponent team will automatically get 75 points plus the two highest scores of the team members.
4. Only five players will play per game. The teams will decides who are the five players out of the eight members that will participate per game.
5. Each player of the team will have one 10th frame roll-off. Each player will play 1st to 3rd one frame roll-off, then 4th to 6th one frame roll-off, and 7th to 10th one frame roll-off.
6. Ranking of the teams will be done after all the teams had already played in the elimination round . The final score for each game will be the total of the top 3 highest scores of the members of the team. In the “Up the ladder match”, only the top 4 teams will be able to play.
7. In the event of a split decision, a sudden death frame will be conducted. Sudden death will be one 10th frame roll-off. The team will decide what player participates.
8. The entire team must wear the same color shirts.

· 2 mondays December 15 and January 19
· 2:00PM-5:30 PM

First Monday (December 15) – Elimination Round (3 lanes A, B, C)
TIME: 2:00-5:30 PM

Game 1 (elimination round)
Lane A - ICS/DHK vs. UPRHS
Lane B - IMSP vs. IBS
Lane C - IC/INSTAT vs. HUM/DSS

Second Monday (January 19) (1 lane)
TIME: 9:00 AM-5:00 PM
Note: Lane will be randomly selected

3 Games (Up the ladder Match)
Note: Team that rank first during elimination will automatically play in the Championship Round. Only the top four teams will play in this match.




BASKETBALL Ground Rules (CAS Sports Tournament)

3. BASKETBALL

A. FIBA rules except…
1. Each team shall consist of twelve (12) team members entitled to play, including the captain.
2. The team should be 60% faculty and staff and 40% students
3. Three (3) faculty and staff and two (2) students from each team shall be on the playing court during playing time and may be substituted.
4. The game shall consist of four (4) periods of eight (8) minutes.

B. There will be a Swift: team with no loss and has 4 wins automatically gets the championship

VOLLEYBALL Ground Rules (CAS Sports Tournament)

2. VOLLEYBALL

a) Faculty members, staff and reps from the respective departments and institutes of every team shall be the priority participants for the games. Student representatives of the departments and institutes will only be allowed to play as substitutes or fillers once the team can not reach the necessary team number.

b) A team should be composed of mixed men & women, but the composition should be 60% men and 40% women or the team could be composed of an all women team in case no men players are available from the team.

c) An “All women” group may serve as representatives for a team. An “All male” ensemble, however, will not be allowed to represent a team. There will only be a maximum of 4 Males per team during a game.

d) During the game, men will not be allowed to deliver a spike if they are on the front side of the court. They are situated on the middle and back part of the court. They will only be allowed a “soft drop” if they are situated on the front side of the court.

e) Women are allowed to deliver a spike wherever part of the court.

f) Due to time constraints, each match will be three sets- 15-15-7 match

BADMINTON Ground Rules (CAS Sports Tournament)

1. BADMINTON

The competition will be held in accordance with the rules of the International Badminton Federation (IBF) for the current year.

1) Any registered faculty, staff and students of any department under the UP College of Arts and Sciences is eligible to compete under the name of his/her department.

2) Each team must have representatives for the following events:

a) Men’s Doubles- one (1) pair

b) Ladies Doubles-one (1) pair

c) Mixed Doubles- one pair (decider match)

3) Only team with complete players in each category will be included at the championship.

4) The order of play will be 1st Men’s doubles, 1st Ladies’ doubles and Mixed Doubles

5) The game is decided on the basis of best-pf-three double matches

6) A concede match shall count as if completed without the conceding side scoring another point

7) The entire team must wear the same colored shirts.


SCORING:

A. All men’s and Ladies’ doubles event:

Scoring will be 1 to 5 rally point, best of three sets. If score is 14-all, the side which gains a two point lead first wins the set. If the score is 20-all, the side which scores 21 first wins that set.


B. Mixed Doubles events:

Scoring will be 1 to 11, rally point , sudden death (one set only), If score is 10-all, the side which scores 11 first wins that match.


PROTESTS:

All appeals/protest must be submitted in writing by the players to the CAS Sport Committee fifteen minutes after the incident. Decision that will be made by the Committee is final.

G8- W5 vs W7; Loser 8 (L8) is eliminated

G9- L6 vs W8; Loser 9 (L9) is eliminated, Winner 9 (W9)

G10- W6 vs W9, Championship; twice to beat: if W6 wins G10 they are Champions if they loose, there will be G11

*G11- W6/L10 vs W9/W10; The Winning team is the CHAMPION

CAS Sports Tournament 2008

Greetings!!

As part of the celebration of CAS week, members of CAS Sports Committee are organizing a sports tournament among the CAS units. We are inviting everybody to attend the activities we prepared for this event!!
